Instructions for Faculty Poster Submissions

What is a faculty poster?

A poster presentation on work in progress provides an opportunity to receive feedback on the project. A poster on finished work offers a chance for more extensive discussion than a paper presentation affords. We invite both types of posters, which may be on any of the kinds of topics that are also appropriate for a paper.

The poster review process is less formal than paper reviews and focuses on whether the topic is suitable for the conference and whether the abstract has an appropriate level of technical detail. Poster reviewing is not blind, and authors should include names, addresses, phone and fax numbers, email addresses, and a Web URL if there is one. At least one author of an accepted poster must register for the conference.

Abstracts of accepted posters will be published in the Journal of Computing Sciences in Colleges, which is included in the ACM Digital Library.

Faculty poster abstracts must not exceed a length of two single spaced pages.

What are the submission requirements?

Faculty poster submissions must meet the following guidelines:

At least one author must present the poster during the poster presentation session. For this reason, multiple poster abstracts from the same author cannot normally be allowed, because co-location of posters by the same author cannot be guaranteed. If two or more abstracts have the same multiple authors, then these abstracts may be considered, subject to the understanding that each poster will be associated with a unique presenter and all these presenters will register for the conference. In these cases, the name of the presenter should be submitted at the time of abstract submission.

Graduate students are allowed to be authors of Faculty Posters.

Important dates for faculty poster authors

Faculty Poster Abstract Submission Deadline: January 20, 2012
Acceptance Notification: January 27, 2012

How should the proposal be formatted?

Since there will be only a brief period in which to revise an accepted abstract, posters abstracts should be submitted in camera-ready form, both as a Word document and as a PDF file. Abstracts must use the the template provided here.

When using Word, do not change its default formatting settings.

No other formats will be accepted. Submission files that consist entirely of images will not be accepted.
