Instructions for Undergraduate Poster Submissions

What is an undergraduate poster?

Undergraduate posters are presentations on computer-related research projects. A faculty member must sponsor a proposal. A panel of judges will review the poster displays at the conference and award prizes for the three best posters. Abstracts of accepted proposals will be published in a booklet which is distributed at the conference.

To submit a proposal for a poster, undergraduate students should submit an abstract describing a computer related research project. Abstracts must not exceed a length of two single spaced pages and must be prepared using the templates described below. Submissions must include the name and contact information for all students involved in the project and the faculty sponsor.

Graduate students are not allowed to be authors of Undergraduate Posters.

How should undergraduate posters be displayed at the conference?

Requirements for displaying undergraduate posters will be made available in good time before the conference. Any poster not consistent with these requirements will be disqualified (i.e., not considered for judging at least).

It is possible (but not certain yet) that space may be available for students to set up laptops and demonstrate software that is part of their project. However, software demonstrations are not considered to be part of the poster submission and will not be available to the judges or considered in the judging. Note that students are permitted to include screen shots of their software as part of the displayed poster.

At least one of the authors must be there to present the poster during the Undergraduate Posters hour. If at least one presenter for the poster is not present, the poster will be disqualified (i.e., not considered for judging).
