Chair’s Report

I. Report from National

1. The next meeting of the national board is September 30 – October 2 at CCSCMW, at Kalamazoo College.

2. The agenda for this meeting has not been published, but one of the major items will be the draft of the bylaws revision. I will advise the board at the next meeting as to what comes out of this.

3. DB access: this seems to have been set up by Kris Powers. Has anyone checked this out?

II. Future Conferences

1. 2006 Conference at Holy Cross

I have talked to Laurie King about this conference (she could not make this meeting, but will attend the January board meeting). We spoke about space requirements and what buildings may work well for the conference (she is going to reserve space later this semester).

There are a couple of potential problems that we should be aware of.

• There may be a problem of space with the programming contest. There are two small labs (24 computers each) that would definitely be available, Laurie is going to check about the availability of other labs on campus.

• Parking on Friday may be a problem, there is a parking garage but it is fairly far from the prospective conference buildings.

• Laurie is up for tenure and its been several years since a CS faculty has gotten tenure at Holy Cross. Let’s all think positive thoughts for Laurie.

2. 2007 Conference

Is there any further word on this? (i.e., the Wentworth vs. Brooklyn College debate). Also, there was the possibility of RIT as a future host.
