How to Submit a Paper
(Note: Paper submissions only; not for posters, panels or tutorials).
Please go through the following steps in order to
submit a paper to CCSCNE 2000:
- Formatting instructions for authors.
Delete all references to yourself and your organization.
Your paper must be anonymous.
- REGISTER HERE -- Enter information about your paper and yourself on-line.
If you are submitting more than one paper, you should do this step for
each paper you submit.
- Now, send your paper (15 pages maximum)
Sending your paper
by regular mail:
Submitting your
paper electronically:
- Make sure you have already gone through step 2 before submitting your
paper on-line.
- Name your file as: <your-last-name>.<file-extension>
E.g., if your name is John Kennedy, and your paper is in ASCII text format,
your filename will be kennedy.txt
- Now, submit your file through anonymous ftp. The steps are listed below.
Your responses/commands are listed in boldface:
<your-machine's-prompt>: ftp ftp.ramapo.edu
Connected to orion.ramapo.edu.
220 orion.ramapo.edu FTP server (Digital UNIX Version 5.60) ready.
Name (ftp.ramapo.edu:john): anonymous
331 Guest login ok, send ident as password.
Password: <your-email-address>
230 Guest login ok, access restrictions apply.

ftp> cd usr/csconf/ccscne/in

If you have any problem with the above procedure, please report to
bshine@ramapo.edu
Important:
- Note that if you are sending a Word file, you must do so in binary mode.
In the above session, the system automatically selected binary
transmission mode. If your ftp client program does not automatically
set the mode, please
be sure to change the transmission mode to binary by typing bin at the
ftp prompt at the beginning of the ftp session.
- If you are using a Windows-based ftp client (e.g., wsftp), when you change directory to usr/csconf/ccscne/in, you may get an error message because your ftp client cannot read the contents of the directory. Don't worry about it, your file transfer will still go through correctly.
-
Note: You will not be able to confirm that your file has been saved
in the directory by listing its contents:
ftp> ls
200 PORT command successful.
550 No files found.
Don't panic, if ftp reported Transfer Complete above, your file
has been properly deposited. It has just been promptly moved to another
location.
If you have any other problem with the above procedure, please call Robert Shine at (201) 684 7719, or send email to
bshine@ramapo.edu.
Resubmitting a File
If you are resubmitting your file because you made changes to it after
submitting it the first time:
- Do not re-enter paper/author information using step 2;
- Submit your file with the same name as you gave it the first time.
In our example, it is kennedy.txt
